Jesus & Yokes
When Jesus tells us to take off our heavy and burdensome yokes, He doesn’t tell us to be free of all yokes. He instead gives us one that is easy and light.
Why doesn’t He just free us from all yokes?
Because, in this life, we aren’t meant to be responsibility-free. We aren’t meant to shake off all callings, commands, and purposes. We aren’t meant to suddenly have nothing to work on, nothing to be driven towards, nothing to change or grow. We still have responsibilities and callings and purposes. But Jesus is removing the unnecessary weight of sin, expectations, worries, fears, and burdens. Instead, He’s giving us a way to live out our callings with efficiency, dedication, intentionality, grace, and liberty.
The same way He doesn’t free men and women from the yoke of relationships, for sexual or emotional “liberation,” but rather tells us to take on an equal yoke, one that is poised to bring a couple together, bring balance to a family, and allow them to move and work in a way that produces the most fruit and growth.
Yokes aren’t shackles; they’re tools that enable us to produce more than we would without them.

Yes, these are well thought insights into being properly yoked. Both In terms of work and relationship. As the term equally yoked would typically pertain to work two animals with the wooden yoke. However, as we see in scripture it also pertains to relational pursuits as well. Always, blessings!
