Scripture Thoughts #2
Genesis 12-13
In Genesis 12 & 13, Abram and his household sojourned in the wilderness after God called him out by faith with the promise of blessing. Everywhere Abram traveled to, from valleys to hill country, he would build an alter there to the Lord.
Everything else in Abram’s life was movable - tents, cattle, a wandering people - but the one thing Abram did always build, the one immovable structure he set up were always alters.
Let me phrase it again so you get the point: Abram didn’t pitch a tent for God in the middle of his city on Sundays and Holidays, he didn’t light a temporary candle in the mornings for his quiet time, he built his entire life around one solid thing: worshipping the Lord. Everything else was movable, everything else was as temporary as a tent
